THE GENDER GAP: WHY MENTORSHIP IS IMPORTANT.

Women have worked their way through the ranks of the professional world to represent well over half of the U.S. workforce. Yet, they continue to hold a vastly smaller percentage of leadership positions than men in various sectors. For women of color, the climb to be equally represented in leadership roles has been even more laggard. While today's statistics about women in leadership show improvement from years past, there's much more work to be done.

WHY MENTORSHIP MATTERS: GETTING AHEAD, EARNING MORE, MAKING A DIFFERENCE.

Individuals in leadership positions are the ones who have the power to enact real change (or keep up the outdated status quo) in the ecosystem that they're directing. It's impossible to run a fair and inclusive business or country without the equal input of everyone that its implications will impact. That's why it's imperative to have women from different backgrounds in leadership positions. The pay gap is sobering. Men earn more than women with the same educational background at every level of schooling. But...

A recent study found that employees who participated in a mentorship program were five times more likely to advance in pay grade. Mentees were also promoted five times more than those not in a mentee program, and mentors were six times more likely to be promoted.

67% of women rate mentorship as highly important in helping to advance and grow their careers. Yet, only 37% of professionals have mentors.

There is a powerful compounding effect as 89% of those who have been mentored will also go on to mentor others.

 
 

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We have an initial 30 minute introductory call - which is free of charge. We'll determine your goals and suggest a mentor match.  If you are interested in engaging in mentoring sessions, there are two options:

  • Ad hoc 1 hour sessions $250

  • Ten 1-hour sessions to be scheduled $2000

I’ve worked in the corporate world for more than 30 years - in the creative fields of advertising, Public Relations, design and in Banking.  I worked my way from administrative assistant to Senior Vice President - and on the way I learned a few things.
